All you need to know about Mesotherapy

September 9, 2019

Mesotherapy, like my other procedures, is a cosmetic treatment to help a variety of different skin related issues. It corrects underlying issues such as poor circulation and inflammation that causes skin damage. It’s surprising really just how many issues and ailments mesotherapy can treat (details to follow!).

The mesotherapy treatment I offer is to help with skin rejuvenation for younger, brighter skin. It’s a virtually pain free way to achieve brighter, healthier looking skin that will leave you feeling revived and fresh.

What is mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a technique that uses injections full of ingredients such as vitamins, enzymes, hormones and plant extracts to rejuvenate and tighten skin as well as remove excess fat

What’s is origin?

A French doctor called Michel Pistor was the first person to develop the technique in the 1950s and it was originally designed to relieve pain. Since then, it’s grown in popularity around the world

What is mesotherapy used for?

As mentioned, mesotherapy can be used for plethora of different purposes. Here at Skin Radiance,  I use it to improve the overall appearance of my patients’ skin, tone the skin as well as repairing free-radical damage. It leaves my patients with a beautiful all over glow and works really well in conjunction with a skin peel. Mesotherapy is also used to remove fat in areas such as the stomach, thighs, buttocks, legs, arms and face. It also reduces cellulite, helps to fade wrinkles and lines, tightens loose skin, can rector the body, lighten pigmented skin and even treat alopecia!

What does the treatment involve?

Mesotherapy uses very fine needles to deliver a series of micro injections into the middle layer (mesoderm) of skin. Whilst different practitioners use different ingredients from antibiotics to herbal extracts, I use ingredients that naturally occur in the skin, including: vitamins A, B, C, E and K, hyaluronic acid, minerals and nucleic acids. I use Genosys products to deliver my mesotherapy treatment. Genosys is manufactured in South Korea which is the home of truly amazing advanced skincare. 95% of Genosys products are completely Paraben free and the rest are from mineral oils, fragrance, SLS and SLES.

During your mesotherapy session, you will have a series of injections using a special short needle that can be given at different depths, from 1 to 4 millimetres into your skin. Each injection will only place a tiny drop of the solution into your skin and you will probably need several sessions to get your desired effect.

How can you prepare for mesotherapy?

In short, nothing much really! We will have an initial consultation to discuss what to expect and you may have to avoid aspirin and other noneseroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for around a week pre-treatment to reduce the risk of any potential bleeding or bruising during mesotherapy.

What’s the recovery like?

Like most of my other treatments and because mestherapy is a non-invasive treatment, there’s usually no downtime required! This means you can return to your regular activities straightaway. However, some people may feel like they need a day off if they experience any swelling or pain.

What’s the cost?

The cost of mesotherapy depends on the type of treatment you’re getting as well as the number of sessions you need. My prices here at Skin Radiance are:

1 Area: £100

2 Areas: £125

3 Areas: £150

4 Areas: £175

I hope I’ve given you enough information to make your decision about whether mesotherapy is right for you, what it can offer and maybe what the pros and cons may be. If you would like to book your consultation with me for mesotherapy, head here and we can get in touch!
