In short, Dermal Fillers are injections that fill out wrinkles and other creases in the skin. They’re also good for plumping and defining lips and cheeks, reducing the appearance of skin blemishes and even help to eliminate scarring.
What Does the Treatment Involve?
The Dermal Fillers are injected just under the surface of the skin to plump and treat the desired area. This will help to restore soft tissue that unfortunately diminishes as skin becomes older and more tired; you’ll often see instantaneous results too!
Dermal Fillers are most often used on the naso-labial folds (lines from the nose to the mouth), on the marionette lines (corner of the lips) and on the oral commissures (corner of the lips) as these are the areas most people are looking to restore and volumise. My choice of Dermal Filler is Juvéderm. It is a non-permanent solution used for the facial region and is a substitute for the naturally produced Hyaluronic Acid - this is what helps us to retain supple and elasticated skin.
Are Dermal Fillers Right for me?
Firstly, it’s imperative to remember that’s what right for someone else is not always right for you. What somebody else thinks looks good, does not mean you have to think it looks good too. There’s no one size fits all criteria for deciding whether or not to go ahead with Dermal Fillers, but if you would like areas of your skin such as wrinkles, creases or blemishes to be changed, it could be the solution for you.
There are several ways to look at the process of ageing: fight against it kicking and screaming, considering it an inevitable and part of life’s journey and letting it do its thing, or making the most of it and the wondrous experiences you’ve gained over the years. I prefer the latter perspective, which is why I believe that helping you look as good on the outside as you feel on the inside is an important part of my job! Whatever your reason for wanting Dermal Fillers, I get it and want to help.
My Dermal Filler treatments leave you with subtle, natural looking results that will reinvigorate your skin, leaving you looking and feeling radiant. If this is what you want to achieve, Dermal Fillers are a less invasive, pocket friendly and quick way to do so.
How Long will Dermal Fillers Last?
Treatment can take up 4-7 days to show its full effect and will last up to around 3 months during the first year of treatment. As none of our skin is the same, this will change from person to person but generally, after the first year of regular treatments, treatments will last up to around six months and less fillers will be required per treatment.
If you decide after several treatments that the results of the Dermal Fillers aren’t for you after all, your skin will gradually go back to how it looked pre-treatment.
Is there Anyone Who Specifically shouldn’t have Dermal Fillers?
Yes, Dermal Fillers shouldn’t be undertaken by those with Myashenis Graves, Lambert Eaton Syndrome, anyone who has swallowing difficulties or if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. It’s also important to bear in mind that Dermal Fillers are not suitable for those under 18 or over 65. Dermal Fillers cannot be used on skin where there is an infection of any sort.
I hope this has given you a better idea as to whether or not Dermal Fillers are the right treatment for you. If you think this is the avenue you would like to go down, please get in contact with me and I’d love to book you in for a free consultation!
